Overview

Expense Tracker is an expense tracking application that helps users record expenses, scan receipts, and review reports. This Privacy Policy explains how information is collected, used, shared, retained, and protected when you use the mobile app, this website, or related services.

This policy is designed to support transparency expectations under GDPR, CCPA, and common Apple App Store and Google Play disclosure requirements. It does not reduce any rights available to you under applicable law.

Data Collection

We collect information that you provide directly, including photo-based receipt entries, manually added expense records, categories, notes, currencies, and export preferences when those features are enabled.

We may also collect limited device and usage information such as app version, device type, operating system, crash diagnostics, event analytics, coarse location inferred from locale or IP when needed for localization, and advertising identifiers where permitted by platform settings and law.

If you use photo capture features, receipt images are processed so the app can extract expense details and create digital entries. That processing supports your personal expense management workflow.

How We Use Information

We use personal information to provide and improve the app, power receipt scanning, organize expense history, generate insights and reports, respond to support requests, protect the service, measure product quality, and comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal expense data to third parties. We do not use your expense ledger to build third-party marketing profiles.

Advertising and Analytics

Expense Tracker may use Google AdMob to display ads in supported areas of the app. AdMob and its partners may process device identifiers, cookies or similar technologies, approximate location, and app interaction data to measure ad performance, limit fraud, and deliver ads in accordance with your device permissions, platform controls, and regional legal requirements.

We may also use standard analytics and crash reporting tools to understand feature usage, improve stability, and evaluate performance. These tools are used for product improvement and service reliability, not for selling your personal expense records.

Where required by law, consent choices for personalized advertising or analytics will be requested through the app or operating system prompts. You can also manage ad and tracking preferences through your device settings.

Legal Bases for Processing

Where GDPR or similar laws apply, we rely on one or more of the following legal bases: performance of a contract to provide the service you request, legitimate interests in maintaining and improving the app, compliance with legal obligations, and consent where required for certain advertising or analytics activities.

How Information Is Shared

We may share information with service providers that help operate the app, such as cloud hosting, analytics, crash diagnostics, customer support, authentication, or advertising vendors. Those providers are expected to process information on our behalf and only for the purposes described in this policy.

We may also disclose information when required by law, to enforce terms, protect rights and safety, investigate fraud or abuse, or as part of a corporate transaction such as a merger, financing, or asset sale.

International Transfers

Because service providers may operate globally, information may be processed outside your country of residence. When legally required, we use appropriate safeguards for international transfers, such as contractual protections or equivalent mechanisms.

Data Retention

We keep information for as long as needed to provide the service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and improve security and reliability. Retention periods may vary depending on the type of data and legal requirements.

You can request deletion of your personal information, subject to exceptions permitted by law.

Your Privacy Rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, export, or restrict certain processing of your personal information. You may also have the right to object to certain processing, withdraw consent where consent is the legal basis, or appeal a denied privacy request.

California residents may have rights under the CCPA or CPRA, including the right to know, delete, correct, and limit certain uses of sensitive personal information where applicable. EEA, UK, and similar-region users may have GDPR-related rights including access, rectification, erasure, portability, restriction, objection, and complaint rights.

Children's Privacy

Expense Tracker is not directed to children under the age where parental consent is required by applicable law. If you believe a child has provided personal information without appropriate authorization, contact us so we can review and delete the data where necessary.

Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards intended to protect information against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, or alteration. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, so absolute security cannot be guaranteed.
